Visa
Exchange students should apply
for a Resident or Tourist Visa in
their residence country before entering Taiwan
with your acceptance letter from NTU.
Find the Taiwanese Embassy in your country
After
registering at National Taiwan University,
students can apply for Resident Visa at the
Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. Please also note that
students must apply for Alien Residence Card
(ARC) at the National Immigration Agency in
Taipei within 15 days of receiving their
Resident Visa.Applicants may
request simultaneously for a Re-entry
Permit (重入國許可).
The ARC for the exchange students is valid for
one academic year only and cannot be extended.

NTU Insurance Policy
Beginning from the academic year
2007/2008, all prospective
exchange students must show proof
of insurance along with their
application, exchange students are
advised to purchase their own
insurance in their home country
before they come to NTU.
Please note that all NTU exchange
students are required to carry
their own medical and accident
insurance plan worth a minimum of
NT$1,000,000 (≒USD
30,000) valid for the whole
exchange period. |

National Health Insurance
All exchange students residing in
Taiwan for more than 4 months
have the obligation by law to
enroll in the National Health
Insurance (NHI) system. Please
apply for NHI during the 4th
month (not before) of your stay in
Taiwan. |

Policy of Health Exams for
Incoming Exchange Students to NTU
From April 1st, 2008, incoming
exchange students could fulfill
the requirement of NTU Health
Exams (Form I) according to the
following methods:
1. they may get
the exams done in
their home country
and mail the Health
Exam Form to our
office with other
required documents
by the application
deadline.
2. If students couldn't receive
their exam reports before they
send out the application
documents, they may
a. fax the copy
of the Exam Form and
then mail the
original one to our
office before their
arrivals to NTU.
b. fax the copy
of the Exam Form and
the signed
Health Exam
Declaration to
our office first,
and then bring the
original one to
Taiwan, hand in the
form to us in person
on the Registration
Day.
3. If students
couldn't complete
the health exams in
their home country,
they should first
send us the signed
Health Exam
Declaration, and
then do the exams at
the National Taiwan
University Hospital
once they arrive at
Taiwan. Please see
the attached file
for the
Instructions of
Health Exams at NTU
Hospital.
Please note that
exchange students'
failure to provide
the NTU Health Exam
Form to Office of
International
Affairs by the
Registration Day
will result in a
failure to complete
the registration
procedure. They will
not receive their
NTU student ID cards
until all the
required documents
are provided.

Airport Pick-up |

  |
The group airport pick-up service is provided upon
request to all exchange students free of charge;
however, it is restricted to several time slots.
Students who request this service must complete the
Airport Pick-up Form
online. You are advised to indicate the time of
your arrival that falls on the service slots. The
request must be made at least 2 weeks (10 working
days) prior to your arrival. Once the pick-up
appointment has been arranged, you can log in our
online system to know the name of the NTU
student volunteers who will meet you at the airport
and accompany you to NTU.
* Please note that the Office of International
Affairs (OIA) will not arrange pick-up services if
your Airport Pick-up Form did not reach us two weeks
prior to your arrival. It is also not possible to
provide individual pick-up service if your estimated
time of arrival does not coincide with the OIA
scheduled pick-up times. However, OIA may adjust or
offer more available pick-up times if necessary.

Besides learning everything you need to know about
NTU, the Exchange Student Orientation is a good
opportunity to meet exchange students from other NTU
partner universities and visiting students from
around the world. Please indicate your attendance by
submitting the Orientation Reply Form
online before September 1.

limited number of seats, it is not allowed to invite
your guests to attend the orientation.

the exchange student orientation for the 2nd

 |
 |
To help exchange students settle down and to
acquaint them with student life in Taiwan, OIA will
assign an NTU student volunteer, upon request on
your application form, to assist you during your
stay at NTU.
What
assistance to expect from your student volunteer?
♥
Dormitory
check-in: Make contact with your volunteer before
coming to Taiwan and inform him/her of your
dormitory information and time of arrival. Your
volunteer will then wait for you in your dorm upon
your arrival and assist you to complete the check-in
procedure and to accustom yourself to your
neighborhood.
♥ NTU
Registration and other administrative issues such as
Visa, Alien Residence Card (ARC) and health
insurance application.
♥ Other
support and information concerning NTU campus life. |
