    2.   Emergency       

In the event of an emergency, students are advised to seek help through the following steps:
   1. In order to respond quickly to the emergency, please take the traffic time into consideration and first dial 119 or 110 for ambulances and fire engines if necessary. (You are advised to call the 24-hour hotline 0800-024-111 for assistance if you have difficulty communicating with 119 or 110)
   2. Please call the 24-hour University Assistance, they will respond to you around the clock.

Campus Escort & Secruity Services
 The Campus Security makes every effort to insure the safety of our faculty, staff and students. Whether you stay on campus working, studying or doing experiment until late night, the Campus Security is pleased to escort you off campus to public transportation terminals or returning to student residences. Lost and Found
   1. Refer to the place in charge of the lost-and-found for missing items (if you have no idea, please refer to the website of Lost-and-Found Category of NTU Campus Announcements) or report the incident to the Campus Security.
   2. Next, report the incident to the police station on Roosevelt Rd. (Note if your ARC is missing, first report to the Foreign Ministry of Da-An police     station and then get a renewal at the local service of the National Immigration Agency in your district)

    3. Computer and Internet    

Webmail

Every student at NTU possesses a mail account in the form of “student ID number@ntu.edu.tw” and 300MB worth of web space. As all the important school announcements and academic information are sent to this account, please make sure you have access to this account and check your mail box regularly for your own benefit. To activate your account and modify the password, please refer to http://changepassword.cc.ntu.edu.tw (Your account is your student ID number, such as b95101001, starting with a lowercase alphabet. Password is preset as "a" plus your "birth date", such as "a + MMDD".) This is also the account which you will use to authenticate to several online services at NTU.

 

NTU Campus Wireless LAN Services

Faculties, staffs and students of NTU can access the NTU campus wireless network. The user authentication for "ntu" network is through NTU e-mail account and password; for "ntu_peap" network, registration for another username is required, and the device will automatically connect to the network after configuration.

How to apply for the IP address of dormitory network
1 First pay the network access fee of NT$600 at the Cashier Division (Room 115, 1st floor, 2nd Administration Building), and choose one of the following options 2~4 to obtain the IP address.

2 Contact the dormitory network manager to get IP address. (Only available for person who has the student ID card.)

3 If you know the MAC-address of your laptop computer, you can set auto IP and DNS first, connect to the web page URL http://dorm.ntu.edu.tw, and follow the procedure to apply for the IP address of dormitory network. (Only available for person who has the student ID card.)

4 Please take your laptop computer to NTU Computer and Information Networking Center. The staff will help you to get an IP address. Please call (02)3366-5008 to make an appointment. (Only available for person who do not have the student ID card.)
  

24-hour computer service
Computer and Information Networking Center provides 24-hour computer rooms. Students must use their ID cards to pass the gate control. Users can surf the Internet and run various kinds of application software. Both black and color laser printing is supported. We grant each student NTD 100 free printing service per semester. Once the free quota is used up, students must pay for printing. Browsing pornographic web sites or playing games is prohibited. Violating the rules will result in the suspension of access right.
 

 

     4. Bicycles     

A Bicycle is a must for students who take courses in various departments across campus. It is much more convenient to travel on campus and nearby vicinity with comfortable bike. There are bikes and biking accessories for sale on Campus. Bicycles can also be repaired on campus or at bike stores on Xin- Hai Rd. Second hand bikes are for sale at the Shui-Yuan Campus on occasion. You are required to apply a campus ID sticker for your bike, or else you may run the risk of the bike being towed away! Apply for the campus sticker at your department or at General Service Division with your student ID.

 

   5. BBS (Bulletin Board System)     

BBS is the abbreviation of Bulletin Board System, a system that is very popular in Taiwan and China. Useful information and opinions are discussed and shared on this online platform. Students are recommended to log onto PTT and PTT2 for the newest information updates and information sharing. Download the software KKMAN or PCMAN and enter the site IP as telnet://ptt.cc for PTT and telnet://ptt2.cc/ for PTT2. Create a new ID and get your BBS life started!

    6. Library     

The General Library (known as GL) in NTU is the main library on campus. In addition to this main one, law and medical libraries located outside the main campus are also available for all students. Some departments have there own collections. The GL has magazines, periodicals, collections and occasional small exhibitions from the first to the third floor. The audio and video collection is in the multimedia center on the forth floor. What’s more, students have the option to study in the B1 study hall, where they can hit the books hard in the Area A, B, and C and surf the internet in the Area A.
